What's the picnic all about?

14 years ago Fred decided to invite some of his friends to join him for a picnic and to make some music. They all had so much fun the summer tradition of The Fred Eaglesmith Annual Charity Picnic was born.

Now, each year Fred is sent CDs from all across Canada and the United States by some great musicians who would like to come out and play to a great crowd for a great cause. Fred calls up some of these folks, and a few of his close friends too. They pour in by van and car and set up tents, then miraculously, music lovers from all over arrive to share the weekend.

This year the proceeds of the event will focus on supporting bio- diversity:

Catfish Creek Conservation Authority which is mandated to ensure the conservation, restoration, and responsible management of Ontario’s water, land, and natural habitats through programs that balance human and environmental needs.

The Long Point Basin Land Trust. The Long Point Basin Land Trust preserves habitat through: land ownership, land management activities and other legal instruments. It also provides opportunities for people to reconnect with nature through hands-on experience.

If you're thinking of coming you need to know...

WHERE IT IS... Once again the picnic is being held at Springwater Conservation Area, in lovely Aylmer, Ontario.

WHO'S PLAYING... We have a great line up of all types of music - check out our schedule for a full listing

WHO CAN COME... You, your mom, your dog, your kids... as long as they are well supervised and you keep some of them on a short leash. If everyone is respectful of noise and waste we should all get along fine.

WHAT'S FOR DINNER... Why not pack a picnic? If you don't want to do that there will be food available to purchase on site: dinner on Friday; breakfast, lunch and a full pig roast on Saturday night; breakfast Sunday morning.

ABOUT CAMPING... Springwater Conservation Area is a pretty good campground. They offer hot showers, clean bathrooms, water and full service sites. You can tent out or bring a big fat trailer. Sites can be purchased here but you must contact Springwater Conservation Area to make your reservations.

OR NOT CAMPING... There are hotels, motels and bed & breakfasts in the Aylmer area. Check them out here.
