On February 15, 2008, our bandmate and our brother, Willie P Bennett passed away.
There are no words to express how we feel.

Mr. Wille P Bennett

This picture was taken by Margaret Evans, at Willies performance at Finlandia Hall in Thunder Bay on Jan. 26, 2008.

We would like to thank everyone for taking part in the memorial service held for Willie.

We all miss Willie.

**!!**World Vision Rocks! Fred Eaglesmith Fans Rock!**!!**
Suzy from World Vision Canada just emailed me to let me know that since Fred has been delivering the opportunity to sponsor a child right to his shows, Fred, his band, his family, his friends, and his fans have sponsored 90 kids!!!
Imagine that, 90 kids have had their lives changed for the better because we all stepped up!
(35 bucks a month on my Visa actually lets me feel good about one of the charges on there!! LOL!!)
World Vision does a lot of great things in the world!
From right in our own back yard - to the other side of the planet!
Check out their website here!
As they say, "Change a life. Change your own." That's how it works!!

**May 25 2009**
There's only one more Fred Eaglesmith solo show on the US west coast (tonight!). Then he plays one more solo show in Meaford on the 6th of July, then it's off for a whirlwind cross Canada tour with the second stop in Bellows Falls - (yes I know that one isn't Canada - but what can you do!?) - check out the schedule to see where Fred is going here. And Sara has finished the Fred Eaglesmith 15th Annual Charity Picnic webpage!!! There is still more info to come, but lots of details can be found HERE!!
*May 27, 2009*
!UPDATE!
Picnic Tickets Now Available OnlineHERE!!

**May 17 2009**
Well we made it home alive and sleep deprived from the Yukon tour!! We had a great time, and had wonderful chaperones, the Gordie Tentrees band and friends.... People up that far north are absolutely wonderful, and the sun doesn't go down til around midnight these days!! The scenery was breathtaking, and we saw tons of wildlife! I have a lot of pictures for you - so I will get them to you soon! Me and the boys got home at about 3:30 in the morning, and Fred stayed in Victoria BC, while he waits for his solo tour of the North West to kick off! Suzy brought the World Vision Booth along with her and we managed to get 6 more kids sponsored - so it doesn't get much better than that!! A quick summation: hippies, barns, dancing, karaoke, air harmonica, late late night jams, great gigs, expensive food, amputated toes, small planes, big planes, rocks, rocks, bears, time changes, wild game bbq's, broken cameras, and on and on and on...slide show to follow! Extra thanks to Gordie Tentrees and friends!!! (Awesome New CD!!!) We all had a great time!!

**May 5 2009**
So Luke was all about picking up his new Underwood pickup on the first day of our last tour.
Unfortunately, even though the pickup had been delivered, no one has seen it!! Weird... Anyway, we've been home for a few days, so I emailed Melissa Underwood, and explained to her our situation, and my plight to get Luke his pickup! Long story short, I just heard back from Melissa, who is on the road herself, and she informed me that she is not a fan of thieves either, and is going to send Luke another pickup!! I thought that was a super nice thing to do, so I wanted you all to know! If nice people make nice pickups, (and it turns out these ones do!!) then you should check out the Underwood Pickup site here.

**May 4 UPDATE**
Holy Cow! Well we got home from our two week or so tour down to Texas and back, then we played last weekend in Ontario, and are off to the Yukon and Alaska on Thursday!! I am having a hard time keeping up with the big dog!! I will post some pictures soon! (Ok - they are below now!) It has been a busy but cool month or so with great green beans, the weirdest gift ever, and a theif who stole our brand new sign!! The Ginn Sisters sang with us at a few of the Texas shows, and Audrey was there to open a few with us too! Like I said - I will have a wack of pictures for you soon! Gordie Tentrees advises me to bring a new camera for the Yukon tour for sure - so look forward to even more cool pics!! This past weekend, Suzy was at the show with World Vision and Fred fans sponsored 3 more kids!!! And finally, I added a bunch of solo shows at the end of May, one to June and some to September - so if you are up for a Fred Eaglesmith Solo show - you can find one HERE!!

Well we are almost home!! 58 event-full days on the road just 2 more shows - and we will be back in Canada. It has been a crazy - but fun tour. We have seen lots of new faces - and got to meet up with old friends. The shows have been rockin', so that should be what you 'll get if you can make it to the next two shows. Unfortunately - tonight is sold out - so tomorrow is your last chance! (for now!) I added more shows to the schedule HERE!!

Stay tuned for pictures from the tour - I have some on my camera - and when we get home I plan on seeing about getting the pic's out of my dead computer - and if that happens - I will have a whole tours worth for ya! Wish me luck!

I keep hearing from people at home in Canada about how cold it is. I have a solution! Come to California, or Arizona, or Texas!! What will you do there you ask? Besides not shoveling, you can catch an awesome Fred Eaglesmith Show in a much warmer climate!!
Where should you go? You decide...here!
I also added a bunch of shows in May for the Yukon! Our friends in The Gordie Tentrees Band are going to be opening all the shows, it should be a blast!!!

Sorry it has been so long since the last update - but we were on the Delbert McClinton Blues Cruise, on the ocean, and my computer absolutely fried!! The motherboard is shot, and the hard drive is unaccessible at this point. That being said, I have a new (to me) computer, so we are back in business, but all my pictures and videos from forever are lost for now, so a continuation of the year in review is pretty much out of the question for now. As always - if you send me some current pictures I will put them up on the picture page

January 10, 2009.
Well, I finally have 2 seconds to sit and let you know what is going on!! The tour has been good so far - we've been to Michigan, Illinois (we will be back there soon!), Utah, and Colorado and here I sit, finally warm in California! The merch is all set up outside, sound-check is done, and it's only 6 o'clock! Everyone we've met so far has been awesome, and this tour has been super fun - with suuuper long drives through icy mountains! But I'm hoping that's it for the snow - we are in California for a long time - and on the Blues Cruise! If you are close by - or just sick of the snow where ever you are - come find us!! HERE!!...and make sure you come say "hi!"

How's Willie P Bennett?
As for Willie P Bennett.... Willie is doing good! The short of it is, they have halved one of his medications, and Fred tells me Willie is in a therapy program three times a week and that is going good too! We still have the "Drugs for Willie P Bucket" at the table for anyone who is so inclined at the shows. We love Willie. The links below are up and running for anyone who would like to drop a note or to make a donation. We all would like to thank everyone who has pitched in to help out. It is amazing how generous everyone has been. With their time, thoughts, and money, it's great to see how many people love Willie
After a lot of thought - Willie has made the decision not to return to the band - so you can find a Willie P Bennett show or drop him a note below!! Again - we love Willie and stand behind any decision he makes.

Fred Eaglesmith Hosts Lucky #13
Thirteen is an unlucky number to some but for musician Fred Eaglesmith there is no such thing as bad luck. The Juno winning alt-country hero and self-proclaimed luckiest-man-in-the-world is hosting his 13th Annual Charity Picnic August 17, 18 and 19. Eaglesmith sees this music-filled weekend at Aylmer Ontario's Springwater Park, as the perfect time to share his good fortune

"In my life there have been so many good things happen. I like to share it," says Eaglesmith of the reason behind the event which has seen more than $25,000 donated to charity since its inception. These causes include the hosting Conservation Authority and Eaglesmith's own special project Reflections, which was started to ensure migrant workers are safely seen on the roads of southern Ontario

Eaglesmith uses the Picnic as an opportunity to share his musical wealth too, bringing together some fine talent. Louisiana's much-celebrated Mary Gauthier is the not to be missed performer of the weekend. Returning favorites of the Annual Charity Picnic are Roger Marin and Washboard Hank while first-timers to the Catfish Creek stage include The Cracker Cats, Johnny No Cash and Neerja Prem

Relishing this chance to bring together people for good times and good causes Eaglesmith says, "In some places around the world right now people can't get together and enjoy themselves like this let alone afford to give the proceeds to help others. We should all thank our lucky stars."

***The 14th Annual Charity Picnic Dates Have Been Set: August 15-17, 2008 Check back often for info to follow!!***

THANKS FOR SUPPORTING THE WILLIE P BENEFIT
A full house paid tribute to Willie P Bennett at Peterborough's Market Hall Friday, July 27. A stellar show hosted by Fred Eaglesmith featured just a few of Bennett's fans and fellow musicians; Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Liam Titcomb, Washboard Hank, Dan Walsh and Brock Zeman. Bennett, unable to quell his performing nature, took to the stage on several occasions bringing the audience to their feet with his trademark harmonies and harmonica.

All of this was made possible by those dedicated to helping one of Canada's finest. Thanks to the volunteers, donations and sponsorship 100% of the ticket sales have been given to Bennett to help with expenses associated with his heart attack and to provide income replacement.
Thanks must be extended to the following businesses and people for their efforts in making this event a success:

Sawdust Entertainment, The Fred Eaglesmith Band, Washboard Hank and the Country Boys, Jesse Reid, Dan Walsh, Brock Zeman, Liam Titcomb and Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Quid Novis, Creemore Springs, The Night Kitchen, Black Honey, Big Sky Graphic, The Holiday Inn, The Market Hall, Moondance, Titles and Kingston Sound.

Volunteers were organized by The Peterborough Arts Umbrella. Volunteers who deserve special recognition include John Muir, Candace Shaw, Britt Gillick, Paul Gervan, Rob Bailey and John Hoffman.

Thanks to the Montreal House for hosting the after party with so many fine musicians kicking in to make for the perfect end to a great night. Thanks must also be extended to all who came to the show and to all of those who could not make it but still purchased virtual tickets

WHERE IS WILLIE?
Popular performer and musician Willie P. Bennett will be taking a forced leave from his long-time tour as sideman for Fred Eaglesmith's band.

Willie was playing with the band in Midland Ontario on the Canadian Victoria day weekend when he realized he just wasn't feeling up to snuff. The feeling persisted, and after the show he wisely checked himself in to hospital.

Tests have shown that Willie suffered a heart attack - and subsequently has been remanded to some time off-tour to give his big 'ol heart the care and attention it deserves. He is expected to make a full and speedy recovery.

Willie is in good spirits and thanks everyone for their well wishes.
You can drop a note to willie@fredeaglesmith.com and we will pass it on to WPB

Fred Forms 'Reflections' to Help Migrant Workers

Fred's fundraising and awareness campaign, "Reflections" has already had success with the installation of reflectors on area migrant worker bicycles. This campaign works to help raise awareness of the problem of bicycle safety. In 2006, three migrant workers were killed in collisions with automobiles because they could not be seen traveling on Ontario roads at night. Fred's 'Reflections' gathers funds and reflectors - then installs the reflectors around Ontario. Learn more HERE You can help! Please give to help make the people of Ontario -- both its year-round residents and its seasonal workers -- safe and well! Or stop by the Hobo store in Port Dover, Ontario to pick up some reflectors to install while you enjoy a scenic drive through Southern Ontario!
