And here is our schedule to see what else has been added:SCHEDULE ![]() As you may or may not know, Fred partners with World Vision in their child sponsorship program. Here is an excerpt from a letter I received today from Dave Toycen of World Vision: "As I try to move through the debris-filled streets of Port-au-Prince, I'm horrified to see that so many children are on their own, frightened and hungry, unable to find their parents. Your donation right now will help save these children's lives by providing Emergency Kits to keep them well: $110 to supply 2 desperate families with Emergency Kits $220 so 4 Emergency Kits will go to 4 families in need $550 means 10 Emergency Kits for 10 families It's critical that we keep distributing these Emergency Kits, which contain items like blankets, hygiene supplies, cooking sets and other essentials, to those who are most in need. Remember, when you donate to help these children and families by February 12th, your gift will double in impact due to a generous contribution from the Canadian Government. World Vision is here in Haiti for the long term - we're going to continue to help rebuild and restore the lives of those affected by this terrible earthquake. Thank you for helping. Please keep the people of Haiti in your thoughts and prayers." Here is the link!!!! WORLD VISION First and foremost HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!!!!!! Fred did a CBC "Definitely Not The Opera" spot, and has almost finished the Ginns Fabulous new cd. (I shouldn't speak so soon!!) Then it was back to work on his new record! All the while he is checking in at his Hobo Java I & II, and The Robot Cafe to make sure everything keeps running smoothly!! The Ginns left for home, we played a show last night in Kitchener, and then the board blew up! That pretty much brings us today!! Tons going on - we have a band show on Friday in Port Rowan, Ontario. Mac from the Perch Gallery in Port Dover is asking for Fred Eaglesmith paintings for a new show coming up. Fred is hard at work in the studio, I haven't seen Matty or Luke for at least a week. I have been manning Fred's new Robot Cafe - wearing more coffee then I pour, and buying more books than I am selling (well almost)! We play Friday night, then I am pretty sure Fred leaves Saturday for his solo Texas tour!! In the meantime, lots of people have been sending me lots of cool stuff, so I will post some of it here!! First, Bill wants me to let you know about the barbecue going down in Freyburg Hall in Schulenburg Texas on Monday the 7th of September. (You will also be treated to the Fabulous Ginn Sisters and the Poss Brothers!) You can find details and times here. Secondly, our good buddy Rob in the Netherlands has been hard at work revamping his NL Fred site, so his new link is here And last (for now) - but certainly not least - Jane emailed us wondering why this wasn't on our site. Two days ago, on our way to the gig in Invermere - the truck had some troubles so the drive lasted a lot longer than necessary, and was not as smooth as one would like - but we made it to the gig on time, and the shows absolutely rocked! Well that is what I was told! Fred has been out most of the day getting the truck worked on - so we should have smooth sailing from here on in. The caravan is on the trail back to Ontario, with stops in Alberta, Manitoba, and we will finish up our coast to coast tour at the Fred Eaglesmith Charity Picnic August 14-16 in Aylmer! More news coming soon... SHOWS HAVE BEEN ADDED FOR THE UK, BELGIUM, AND THE NETHERLANDS IN OCTOBER!!! and one in November... HERE!! Alberta West News Article Read it here. As I type this, the boys, The Ginn Sisters (Brit & Tiff), Blue Ginn, and Bill are outside the motel door drinking beer and barbecuing steaks!! Living the dream I would say! I just got back from doing some rock-hounding, and thought I would sit down to give you a really quick low down of what's been going on. I am calling this the stormy tour. We have been caught in a lot of storms, the biggest I would say was in Nanton, Alberta (thanks Barb and Larry!), the power went out during the show, Fred grabbed the acoustic guitar, did one song, said it was in his contract that if the power went out, he got to go for a nap, and the power instantly went back on!! (at least where we were it did!!) I have to add the Dauphin Country music fest (in Manitoba) had a huge hail storm - it left piles of hail that looked like snow - I saw many a snow man in July!!! We celebrated both Fred and Matty's birthdays on this tour. Fred fans sponsored at least 20 World Vision kids so far on this tour, the Ginns Sisters have been opening the shows backed up by an awesome band (including Drunka Ginn and Stoneda Ginn)!, and they are singing back up for Fred in the most awesome way!! We had a film crew at the past few shows - and we are playng in Rossland BC tomorrow! That's it for now - I will get you some pictures soon! Here is a bit of a show from Calgary... We had a day off today to drive to Daupin for Country Fest! We went Go-Karting - I lost - but I am sure I had a super faulty car - seriously. We saw a few moose on our way - and got some pictures of them so I will post those soon! The shows have been super fun and if they weren't all sold out - they sure were close - so that's awesome too!! We are going to be seeing lots of old friends this weekend, like Hank and the boys, Roger and the boys - Hayes and the boys and girl - and the Ginn Sisters will be singing with the band this weekend (and some other shows too) so that totally rocks!! It has been an awesome tour so far - can't see why that would stop being the case - so if your at a show - come by and say hi! WarezHit.com Tinderbox/Fred Eaglesmith Review/Article Read it here. Fred Forms 'Reflections' to Help Migrant WorkersFred's fundraising and awareness campaign, "Reflections" has already had success with the installation of reflectors on area migrant worker bicycles. This campaign works to help raise awareness of the problem of bicycle safety. In 2006, three migrant workers were killed in collisions with automobiles because they could not be seen traveling on Ontario roads at night. Fred's 'Reflections' gathers funds and reflectors - then installs the reflectors around Ontario. Learn more HERE You can help! Please give to help make the people of Ontario -- both its year-round residents and its seasonal workers -- safe and well!
